The MTM is now accepting requests for screening by reverse genetics.

Terms of Use
  1. Only one sequence per investigator will be screened at a time. Please wait for results from your first request before submitting another.
  2. Genomic and reasonably complete cDNA's will be accepted. EST's will not. If you have an indication of where introns are located, please mark them with slashes ("/") in the sequence.
  3. We will design primers for PCR screening, however we will also work with investigators who want to design their own. Send us an email if this is the case.
  4. Subject to a Materials Transfer Agreement from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, investigators will receive seed of individuals carrying the desired insertion. Simultaneously, sibling seed will be sent to the Maize Genetics Cooperation (COOP) for magnification in preparation for public requests. Within 12 months of receipt, phenotypic information about those individuals and any progeny must be contributed to the MTM database for display on the MTM web site. Seed will be advertised if available from the COOP. Also at this time the sequence used for screening will become publicly accessible, as will your identity.
  5. Investigators retain the rights to any invention arising from the transferred materials.
  6. The fee for the screening service is $750 for academic researchers. Corporate researchers should contact us. We are working to reduce our costs and will pass these on as we achieve higher efficiencies.
  7. We ask for your patience. Initial requests will be part of the optimization process. We are aiming to do 10 screenings per week but this number will be lower at the beginning.
  8. These terms of use apply to MTM seed identified by MTM reverse genetic procedures. We are currently working on terms of use for seed requested on the basis of phenotype.
