Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) are essentially a statistical creation that identifies a particular region of the genome as containing one or more genes, and that region is associated with the trait being measured. A QTL is shown as an interval across a chromosome where the probability of association is plotted for each marker used in the mapping experiment.

The Gramene QTL database includes QTL identified for numerous agronomic traits in rice, maize, barley, oat, sorghum, pearl millet, foxtail millet and wild rice. The emphasis is on presenting QTLs with both information on associated traits and a mapped locus on a genetic map.
QTL Search or Browse Options

Home Page: Introduction and Quick search - Search the QTL database by trait name, symbol, or category; Linkage group; QTL accession ID; or Species. Use the symbol * for wild card search (e.g. seed*, SDCL, development, AQT007).

Simple Search: Search a term as in quick search, but restricted by Field Name or Species; or Browse by trait category.

Power Search: Filter search by including or excluding one or more specific trait names, species, and linkage groups.

Help Presents an overview on how to use the QTL database and lists explanations of field names.
